Welcome. So where do I start? Well let’s try hello! My name is Katrina – not to be confused with Hurricane Katrina! I am an Administrative Assistant 3 in Central Human Resources. Some of you may be wondering what is “Keeping up with the Admins?” Well let me just say we sure aren’t the Kardashians. We are the people that keep the organizations we support going. Here are three things we’d like you to know:
- Admins do it all. We do all the small and not so small tasks that keep the office going.
- Administrative Assistants aim to please and are always trying to do things the way you want them.
- Administrative Assistants aren’t just the “go-to” people of the organization. We have families, children and a life outside of UC Berkeley. Take the time to get to know who we are as people and not just as your employees.
For those of you in positions of power, there is often great responsibility. Many of you have a lot going on and more things to do in any given day than you can handle. But please, take some of the advice in this blog to heart and gain a renewed appreciation of the hard work performed by the people working underneath you. We’re ALL trying to support this great institution.
